Tractor relaunch

Zetor North America Inc. has announced the relaunch of its Major Series of value-priced utility tractors in the United States and Canada. Initially, the new Major will be available in an 80-hp, four-wheel-drive cab version, with 60-hp, 70-hp, two-wheel-drive and cabriolet (open station) models to be added later.

Along with a heavy-duty frame, the tractor features a rugged, reliable and easy-to-service four-cylinder Zetor engine, free from the complex electronics and computer controls of other tractors in its class, and offering a torque rise of more than 35%, reducing the need for frequent downshifting.

In addition, the tractor has a 12-speed forward/12-speed reverse synchro-shuffle gearbox, a user-friendly hydraulic system and a lift capacity of more than 5,500 pounds (lb.). The company says the tractor’s roomy cabin combines convenience and comfort with ergonomically designed controls and has excellent all-around visibility and optional air conditioning. All of the relaunched tractors have a limited five-year power train warranty.

Enhanced overseeder

Billy Goat Industries has enhanced its OS901SPS overseeder with a new blade design that reduces thatch and improves blade life due to its sharpened leading edge and attack angle combined with a new foot actuated height adjust that raises and lowers the reel effortlessly and provides more blade depth.

The enhanced overseeder is hydrostatically self-propelled to reduce fatigue associated with pushing and features intuitive right and left operator drive controls. The unit is 22 inches (in.) wide with an exclusive 11-blade “floating head” cutting system that maintains contact with the contours of uneven ground, increasing seed-to-soil contact and improving germination rates, according to the release.

An exclusive Auto Drop system automatically starts and stops seed drop with bale engagement and disengagement, conserving seed and preventing end-of-run seed piling. The unit comes standard with a 30-lb. seed box with excellent visibility from the operator’s position and is generously elevated above the turf to eliminate clogging. Conversion kits are available to retro-fit the OS900SPS series with the new enhancements.
